About this patch program
Show pride in our community and complete the requirements for this new patch program that was designed
for the Girl Scouts in Mercer!   You are on your honor to indicate which requirements you completed. 
The paperwork for this patch is due to your troop leader by October 1, 2008. 

To earn this patch, which will be worn on the back of your sash or vest, you need to do the following:
Brownies:  Complete parts 1-3 of the Patch requirements and 1 more part of your choice. 
Juniors:  Complete parts 1-3 of the Patch requirements and 3 more parts of your choice.
Cadettes, Seniors and Leaders: Complete parts 1-3 of the Patch requirements, and 5 more parts of your choice.
Everyone:  hand in your completed paperwork for this patch to your troop leader by October 1, 2008.


Mercer Area Girl Scouts Community Pride Patch Program requirements:

The following 3 parts are required for all Scouts and Leaders:
1. Participate in the Mercer 500 Memorial Day Parade or and hand out programs with your Girl Scout Troop 
at a Mercer Community Band Concert or work at the Girl Scout Ice Cream Social on Friday, June 20
or
donate a pie or cake to the Ice Cream Social on June 20.
Your troop leader will provide you with more information about handing out programs and about the Ice Cream
Social. Attach a program from the Community Band Concert from the night that you were there handing out programs or
from the night of the Girl Scout Ice Cream Social, or complete the following if you marched in the parade:

2. Participate in the Mercer Area Girl Scouts service projects with Mercer County Habitat for Humanity
(MCHH) or donate one large black garbage bag of aluminum cans to Mercer County Habitat for Humanity.
The cans do not have to be crushed but they must be rinsed out. The cans can be taken
to Bethany Presbyterian Church, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Coolspring Presbyterian Church
or Fredonia Presbyterian Church for donation.

5. The book "Each Little Bird That Sings" by Deborah Wiles is the book
for all Mercer residents to read this year. Read this book. After you have finished the book,
drop a note to Mrs. Langdon so your name can be added to her count of how

6. Attend a Mercer Area Middle or High School girls or co-ed sporting event in
Septemeber . This cannot be a game that you played in or a team that you play for.

8. Stop in the library and use your library card to check out a book to read. If you don't have
library card, sign up for one. Look over the plans for the renovations of the library. Ask one of
the librarians how the plans for the renovations are going.

9. Over the summer, volunteer in some way in our community - for example, teach at vacation bible school,
help an eldery neighbor with yard work, donate food to one of the food pantries in Mercer.
